Vertica and Talend team to deliver integrated platform for operational analytics
Talend data integration solutions and the column-oriented Vertica® Database enable fast, affordable analysis of business operations for more timely decision making
ANDOVER, Mass., Dec. 11, 2007 - Vertica Systems and Talend today announced a strategic partnership to give companies a faster, more affordable data integration and management platform for operational analytics so they can capitalize on business events. Now, companies of all sizes in any industry are able to cull more of their data from myriad sources – regardless of brand, version or protocol – integrate, reconcile and cleanse it, and query it faster than ever before and at lower cost.
This partnership will provide customers with the first integrated operational analytics data management platform based on open source data integration and column-oriented relational database management system (RDBMS), giving businesses the unique ability to analyze information as it is generated so they can make more timely adjustments to operations. For example, an online retailer during the busy holiday season can use the integrated technology to better understand the effectiveness of on-line marketing campaigns. Leveraging the new Vertica/Talend platform, retailers can analyze near-real time views of clickstream data from the e-commerce and online order fulfillment applications, and customer data from the customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and analyze it within the context of terabytes of historical data.
"The Vertica Database was built on the principle that businesses need to access information quickly and efficiently. Business success is no longer about waiting weeks to act on the data that comes this month. It’s about this morning’s data affecting this afternoon’s business processes," said Vertica CEO Ralph Breslauer. "Vertica, along with Talend, gives customers faster access to more data and provides a more complete view of their data, so they can operate with the best information available at the speed of today’s business."
The Vertica® Database solves the problem of having large, fast-growing databases with no way to query the data within them quickly and efficiently. Vertica's RDBMS enables business managers to conduct complex, ad hoc queries on the fly and affordably. Talend Open Studio, Talend's flagship data integration tool, and Talend Integration Suite, the company’s enterprise solution, enable customers to access data wherever it resides – inside or outside the firewall – and integrate it in the format that suits them best. The joint solution also eliminates delays caused when data loading processes slow or prevent querying. Vertica can enable continuous querying while Talend streams current and accurate data into the database, so analysts are sure they are working with the most up-to-date information.
"Business agility requires immediate access to all the data that matters, in the format organizations depend on," said Talend CEO and Co-founder Bertrand Diard. "Since introduction to the market, Talend's data integration solutions have made tremendous strides in organizations of all sizes, complementing or replacing proprietary solutions. The use of these versatile products, combined with Vertica's columnar analytics database, gives companies a definitive competitive advantage to obtain an exhaustive view of their information system, and to respond more quickly to key business events."
